New Model A owner

Howdy Folks.
I've recently acquired a filthy but otherwise very nice white Model A. I've gotten it home and offloaded and am anxious to start it's rehab. I'll be sending the top off for re-porcelaining, and the oven door handle for chroming. The stove appears to be complete with no rust or porcelain dings. I'll be needing a service manuel and am wondering if there was a service manuel for the A's or does everybody just get by with a B manuel? I would sure appreciate any advice as to idiosyncracies of the A.(I'm planning on documenting my progress digitally and hope to be able to share my experience.) Thanks...Dan

Welcome, another Texan. And a Modal A owner. Have a name for her yet? What part of Texas?

I don't think Sam or Todd have a manual for the model A. The manual for the B was very helpful for us. Be sure to read the old posts for tips on cleaning and repairs.

I think that the model B service manual was the first Chambers service manual. It does include a few notes about the adjusting of the burners on the model A. I do have, in my ebay store, a bunch of Chambers information from about 1936 that does have about 4 or 5 pages of typed installation/service information for the A models.

I found her in Corpus Christi in the home of the original owner. It was the last day of an estate sale. She had had a lot of admirwrs but she wound up going home with me. Got the thermowell top unstuck. it was clean as a whistle on the inside. Had a bonus of a half pot in good condition in the well. Sam I'll be ordering a manuel from you and any other A specific stuff you can dig up... Thanks...Dan

Does your model A by chance have copper tubing? I am still wondering if any were made with it or if our stove was redone. It doesn't matter, just curious.

How strange! I swear, everyone who sees this stove agree that the tubing looks original. I forgot to add that my thermowell lid appears to be chromed copper, not aluminum. Are all 10 BX's like this? Just wondering. Thanks for the reply
